The Trauma Centre For Survivors Of Violence And Torture says it's high time that government, civil society and communities work together to tackle violence against children.
To do this, the centre's Valdi Van Reenen-Le Roux says society needs to address all the factors socio-economic that enable violence to happen.
Two children were shot and injured in suspected gang gunfire in Bonteheuwel this week.
Van Reenen-Le Roux says it cannot be that children continue to be victims of gang violence, domestic abuse, neglect or sexual predation.
She says some of the challenges include gaps in child protection laws and poorly resourced communities.
This country spends billion on child protection but what are we doing to change the lives of children?— Valdi Van Reenen-Le Roux, Executive Director - Trauma Centre For Survivors Of Violence And Torture
