Emotional experience during Marikana report briefing

Advocate Dali Mpofu, legal representative for the arrested and injured Marikana miners, says that briefing his clients on the contents of the Marikana report has been an emotional experience.

My own reaction to the report was skeptical at first. But yesterday’s events were a deal breaker for me. It was quite an emotional session that we had, explaining the report to the families and to the injured and arrested was quite something. I haven’t been able to sleep since then. So my reaction is now informed by that experience. I think at the very least, they were expecting that the evidence would be taken into account. But hard evidence was provided and simply ignored.
