Department of Social Development is on its way to the creche to investigate.

After three videos showing children at a crèche being beaten by a teacher went viral, officials from the Social Development Department have visited the school to investigate the matter.

This incident is one of many child abuse cases that have emerged.

On Wednesday heavy sentences were handed down in the Baby Daniel case nearly three years after the little boy's death.

Ray White speaks to the spokesperson at the Social Development Lumka Olifant about the videos.

We have asked for the Social Development in Gauteng to immediately go to the centre and we have asked for the removal of the children from that facility.

Lumka Olifant, Spokesperson - Department of Social Development

Once our officials come back, they will let us know whether the people were screened or whether the crèche is funded by the department.

Lumka Olifant, Spokesperson - Department of Social Development

Once we have all the information, we will then be able to know what has come out of the investigation.

Olifant says she believes that these videos are authentic as the language spoken is a South African language.

Callers also weighed in on the conversation and Mpho says he is disgusted an irritated about the whole situation.

I am thinking about the child's wellbeing now and the way this kid was slapped around. You can even assume that he sustained injuries.

Women and Men against Child Abuse's Miranda Jordan-Friedman, says there are a number of factors and warning signs that families can see in order to see that there is abuse.

Every single case that we have worked on, we have literally come in at the end stage as by then, family members are either panicking that they didn't do enough or that they now see what bad condition the child is.

Watch below these viral videos, please be advised videos contain disturbing material:

EWN reporter Robinson Nqola who went to the Westrand creche says the teacher has been arrested.
