This week a series of videos went viral, showing a teacher repeatedly beating young children at Ninnies Neuron's Nursery School.

The mother of one of the children abused at a Carletonville nursery school, has threatened to lay charges against the owner and the teachers involved.

This week, a series of videos went viral, showing a teacher repeatedly beating young children at the Ninnies Neuron's Nursery School.

Speaking to Joanne Joseph on Thursday, the principal’s lawyer said that the videos were taken by a disgruntled former teacher.

Because the child is a minor and cannot be identified, the mother is referred to as 'Anette'.

She says she suspected something was wrong when her child was enrolled in the school from the beginning.

Her behavior was abnormal, she used to come home differently and changed as a child. My daughter was a very friendly little baby, then she started becoming really shy and closed off. If someone would touch her she would burst into tears, any stranger would talk to her, she would burst into tears.

'Anette', Mother

'Anette' says she approached the teacher several times.

She had bruises on her body and when I went and asked the principal what is going on, she said my daughter is just an emotional child and I should stop being overprotective. I went to her several times, one day my daughter came to me and said her teacher had smacked her.

She clearly covered up for her teachers. She assured me that she was at the school all the time.

Anette, Mother

'Anette' says she has since removed her child from the nursery school and that she's now doing much better.

She adds that she's in contact with the teacher who took the videos and that this woman worked for her after being let go by the school.

'Anette' says the police have not been helpful - they have not taken a statement since she went to the police station three days ago.

When we went there to find out why he did not take a statement and open up a case, he said to me it is because I could not give him the exact time of the incident.
