How to keep your wheels looking showroom shiny

There's nothing quite like driving a brand new car out of the showroom - paintwork gleaming, rims sparkling and, of course, that new car smell...but how can you make sure your car always looks and feels like it's just come off the forecourt?

Jignesh 'Jiggy' Thakor, owner of Exklusiv Autohaus joined Azania Mosaka in studio to share some advice on how to preserve the condition of your car.

Thakor begins by explaining the effects of 'abrasive washing'.

He says cleaning your car with a cloth that could contain dust particles creates abrasions which will damage paint work.

Most car washes operate with a single bucket system, wash the wheels and the body together and that ends up scratching the car. If we speaking about maintaining the car and the condition of the vehicle, if you are hence trading it back in, they look at the car based on how the paint is looking on the outside, as well as the interior.

And his tips for keeping the interior of your car sparkling clean?

One of the things we have incorporated in our business is we have got a high pressure steamer which is basically used to clean.

We noticed not only the turn around time when we started using steam. We have eliminated a thousand germs just from a two minute clean up on the steering wheel.

Thakor explains the kind of protection that ceramic coating provides.

You never ever have to hand wax your car ever again. Yes you have to do a top up coating and there is a maintenance that occurs on a six months basis but in essence what the coating does for you is it gives you a physical permanent protection. It also has the ability to be applied to a number of surfaces - your handbag, lounge suite and textile.
