'There will be plenty of books, how we get them? Don't worry'- ANCYL Free State

While the launch at an Exclusive Books store in Sandton has been shut down, the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Free State plans to burn copies of Journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh's new book at a dump site in Mangaung on Monday.

On Tuesday evening, a small group of demonstrators tore copies of the controversial book which claims to expose the network of state capture under African National Congress (ANC) secretary general Ace Magashule.

The provincial ANCYL has described the book as 'rubbish'.

ANCYL Free State Provincial Spokesperson Sello Pietersen says Myburgh must present evidence before the courts instead of casting aspersions on Magashule's person and integrity.

We must ask you what is your intention, is your intention justice or is your intention to tarnish the image and integrity of Ace Magashule as an individual?

Sello Pietersen, Provincial Spokesperson - ANCYL Free State

As the youth league, as an expression of our own views, we are going to burn that book because we view it as rubbish and garbage.

Sello Pietersen, Provincial Spokesperson - ANCYL Free State

If you have evidence, why don't you go to court, why do you write a book? There will be plenty of books there, how we got them don't worry.

Sello Pietersen, Provincial Spokesperson - ANCYL Free State

The ANC has distanced itself from the Sandton protest and has condemned the protest.

In a statement, the party says the actions of these individuals undermines freedom of speech.
