Roundabouts are not safe for pedestrians - study

Did you know that pedestrian deaths represent approximately 38% of all traffic death reported in the country?

Transport engineer Dr Pascal Nteziyaremye used different analytical methods and modelling techniques to determine the frequency of pedestrian crashes in the built environment.

Speaking to Refilwe Moloto, Nteziyaremye says the population number and intersections influence pedestrian crashes.

Roundabouts are not safer for pedestrians and this is a new finding.

Most hotspots for pedestrian accidents are areas where we have more historically disadvantaged people.
