The Alexandra Total Shutdown Movement is set to meet an intergovernmental forum headed by Co-operative Governance Minister Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed the team to deal with challenges in the township. Residents took to the streets over a lack of services in the area last week.
Eyewitness News reporter Ahmed Kajee says community leaders will address unresolved land issues, title deeds, high demand for housing, illegal occupations, high crime rates, illegal immigration and poor service delivery.
Some of the people and stakeholders that will be involved in this meeting are local councillors, the Alex Shutdown leaders, land owners and ministry of cooperative governance.— Ahmed Kajee, Reporter - EWN
Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba has released a statement saying he will not be attending the meeting and explains that the engagement does not involve the City of Johannesburg.
