Could BMW's new Z4 be the next future classic?

Car expert Jacob Mashokoa's been giving BMW's Z4 M40i a spin.

After looking back at the history of the Z4, he gets down to the nitty gritty: while it comes in four-cylinder and six-cylinder versions, does this pricy roadster have sex appeal?

The chassy and the styling - you can see that BMW is trying to keep the modern look. At the same time I feel as though the Z4 has got a look that's not very sexy at first glance.

Jacob Mashokoa, Car expert

Mashokoa says if you take a closer look though, there are redeeming features.

But how does it compare to for instance, the Porsche Boxster?

The key here is what do you prefer? If you want something straight from the German stable... I have to say, if I had a choice I'd definitely go for the 718 Boxster instead of going for the Z4.

Jacob Mashokoa, Car expert

The 3-litre engine from the Z4 for me can definitely get beaten by the likes of the Porsche.
