Hop to it: fun games for the kids over the Easter weekend

"Mr Active", David Katz says he's inspired by the idea of raising "physically literate" kids.

This will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives, he tells Phemelo on Weekend Breakfast.

If you raise kids to understand they need to be active, living a certain healthy lifestyle, then they grow up and then it doesn't feel like it's something that's forced on them.

And with quite a bit of the long weekend still ahead, there are a lot of fun games that can be constructed around the tradition of Easter, like this idea that originated in Scotland.

A boiled egg is very versatile... they find a nice hill and then they race their eggs down the hill.

Everyone likes a bit of competition.

Then, turning the traditional Easter egg hunt on its head is a way of not only entertaining your children, but throwing in a bit of learning as well.

Switch things up... Give them ideas - I want you to find a feather, I want you to find this kind of plant, a seed...
