Project Ithuba
The project is aimed at diversifying tourism, promoting skills, asset management, building sector support and investment.

The City of Cape Town will launch Project Ithuba on Thursday. It aims to accelerate key economic sectors within the city.

Mayoral committee member for economic opportunities at City of Cape Town, Alderman James Vos explains what Project Ithuba could mean for the city and its citizens.

The word Ithuba means opportunity in Xhosa.

The main objectivity of Project Ithuba is to expand economic opportunities throughout the city by supporting the high growth sectors of the economy.

Alderman James Vos, Mayco member for Economic Affairs - City of Cape Town

He says the project will focus on five sectors which are tourism, promotion of skills, asset management, business development, and investment.

The campaign aims at aligning the organisation towards the high growth sectors, says Vos.

I want to drive a narrative that Cape Town is open for investment by making incentives available to new investors and existing ones.
