Zuma expected to join campaign trail in KwaMthethwa on Friday

ANC general secretary Ace Magashule is on a campaign trail in Northern KwaZulu-Natal along with the former president this week.

Former president Jacob Zuma is expected to join a campaign trail in KwaMthethwa, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule kicked off electioneering in the area on Thursday.

The region is traditionally known as Zuma and the Inkatha Freedom Party's (IFP's) stronghold.

Eyewitness News reporter Nthakoana Ngatane says some IFP supporters have refused to let the ANC into their homes.

Some of them said to ANC, no you cannot come into my house because I am an IFP supporter. Some of hem were saying that the ANC really hasn't done anything. Many of the areas we have gone to have gravel roads, people are driving wheelbarrows to go and fetch water and here we are with an entourage of the ANC with German cars.

Yes, some accepted the secretary-general and said they would vote for the ANC but it can go two ways because this is quite a divided region.
