Geerdts had submitted his CV for a marketing and communications specialist position – and was given a short reply saying that they could not see the connection between the job opening and his experience as a journalist and TV presenter.

Kaplan says she’s got over 30 years of experience in the recruitment industry and that the particular job spec was dealing with over 500 applications. She says that she makes a point of responding to each candidate with a short response – and it was never her intention to malign Arnold.

Kaplan also says she’s been on the receiving end of hate mail.
