Emotional Brownies and Downies founder joyous, hears her ban lifted live on air

CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies speaks to founders of Cape Town coffee shop Brownies and Downies, Wendy Vermeulen and Wade Schultz, and broke the news that Wendy was un-banned from re-entering South Africa for five years.

Wendy was over the moon having had no idea the ban had been lifted

But is that true? Because I have not heard anything. Oh yay! That's great! That is the best news!

Wendy Vermeulen, Founder - Brownies and Downies

On Monday Wade explained that eatery, which has been offering training to people living with Down Syndrome might have to close down if his wife Wendy was not allowed back into the country.

CapeTalk Breakfast team contacted the Department of Home Affairs and as a result, the restriction upon Wendy has officially wavered.

I have a response from Ronney Marhule and it says: 'The request for the waving of the undesirable status has been considered and was successful. The department has therefore decided to remove the restrictions placed upon your name with immediate effect'.

Kieno Kammies, Host - CapeTalk

Department of Home Affairs Cape Metro co-ordinator, Sam Plaatjies confirmed the letter to be authentic.

That is absolutely amazing, thank you so much and thank you to your contact at Home Affairs...
