Second elderly voter dies at polling station

(This article has been updated)

A second pensioner is believed to have died trying to cast her vote at the Maqingwana voting station in the Vaal on Wednesday.

Earlier, an elderly woman has died in an elections queue in Sedibeng, Vereeniging.

The woman is said to have complained about her chest on Tuesday night but seemed determined to vote.

Eyewitness News reporter Edwin Ntshidi says she arrived at the station on Wednesday when she approached the ballot box and collapsed.

She arrived at the station, was given two ballot papers, national and provincial then as soon as she approached the ballot box, that is when she collapsed and passed on.
