One person has been arrested in a protest in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal as voting continues in the region.
A series of protests flared up in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The province has been identified as a hotspot following a surge of service delivery protests from April.
Eyewitness News reporter Nthakoana Ngatane has more on the story. She says demonstrations have been contained.
We have just spoken to police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker who tells us there were protests in the early morning but police have been able to contain them and one person has been arrested.— Nthakoana Ngatane, Reporter - EWN
We spoke to the MEC for safety and security Thomas Kaunda yesterday and he seemed quiet confident that in terms of security they have everything under control, they will be able to identify any flare ups before they happen.— Nthakoana Ngatane, Reporter - EWN
