EWN's Jason Felix gives an update of the province's election results.

South Africans are waiting in anticipation to know which party will be governing the country for the next five years.

As the election results are trickling in, EWN reporter Jason Felix gives an update of the Western Cape results.

He says about 65% of the voting districts have been completed and tallied.

Compared to previous years, the voter turnout in the Western Cape is a bit lower and this is attributed to the rains that hit the province on Wednesday, says Felix.

It is also important to note that the votes in the biggest metros have not been tallied yet and what you see on the screens might be much different at 7pm tonight.

It is quite safe to say the DA is well on its way to victory, at this point sitting at 56%.

Judging by the figures one can confidently say Alan Winde will be the premier of the Western Cape after the results are announced. It is almost impossible for the DA to go lower than that.

The ANC is currently sitting at 29% in the Western Cape but Felix says that could change as more votes are counted towards the evening.

We should also remember that the IEC is still counting votes in ANC's strongholds, which is the Cape Flats, and that could significantly change.

The Economic Freedom Fighters knocked the Good Party off the third spot it has been holding since the counting began on Thursday morning.

The EFF is sitting at 3.5% while the Good Party is at 3.1%.

It's still early days and only at 7pm we can have a final picture of what we can expect.
