'The ANC has lost its cushion'

The Democratic Alliance (DA) overcame numerous problems it had in the last year and consolidated its vote in the Western Cape, according to political economy analyst Daniel Silke.

The DA looks set to continue governing that province.

…We’ve seen the DA come out relatively positively here [Western Cape]… Given where the party was a year ago… the DA have managed to consolidate their vote…

Silke reckons the African National Congress (ANC) lost votes on its fringe to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) while the DA has lost on its periphery to the Freedom Front Plus (FF+).
