Political analyst Prince Mashele says President Cyril Ramaphosa is now under pressure to deliver on the campaign promises he made.

Political analyst Prince Mashele says now that election period is over, there's pressure on President Cyril Ramaphosa to deliver on the promises he made during his campaign trail.

Mashele says Ramaphosa has created an impression that there's going to be a downsized Cabinet after the elections.

If he doesn't deliver he will be planting a seed of doubt in the minds of South Africans.

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

He also made a promise that people who are alleged to be involved in corrupt activities will not form part of his Cabinet.

South Africans are waiting to see if people like Bathabile Dlamini and Nomvula Mokonyane will be part of that Cabinet.

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

If those people are part of his Cabinet, South Africans will never believe anything that Ramaphosa says.

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

Cyril Ramaphosa is like a pseudo-saint surrounded by thugs...

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

Mashele describes Ramphosa as an angel who is told to select Cabinet members from hell.

South Africans should not expect a Cabinet of angels from Cyril Ramaphosa. They must understand that he will get his Cabinet from a very rotten party, which is the ANC.

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

Mashele suggests that Ramaphosa gives crucial portfolios to those he trusts and allocate useless positions to those who have been exposed in wrongdoing.

That is the only choice he has because he cannot completely exclude the criminals because they are his comrades and they are part of the senior leadership of the ANC

Prince Mashele, Political analyst

He says if Ramaphosa wants to downsize he should use the Cabinet before Jacob Zuma as a template.

But what about the promises Ramaphosa made to create jobs and grow the economy?

Political analyst Prof Somadoda Fikeni suggests the reduction of some of the unnecessary things government is doing and the downsizing of Cabinet in order to save money.

Secondly, it is one of the aggressive methods to attract local and foreign investment and making it easier for young business people to make their businesses sustainable.

Be creative on money already in circulation, whether through pension funds or grants, you make it circulate in the manner that empowers.
