The association's Gavin Kelly says a driver was killed when a stone was thrown through his windshield in the Western Cape.

A truck driver has been killed on the N1 near De Doorns in the Western Cape.

A rock was thrown through the driver's windshield on Sunday morning and saw the vehicle swerve off the road and crash before goods from the Time Link cargo were looted.

Speaking to Pippa Hudson, the Road Freight Association technical operations manager Gavin Kelly says investigations are underway.

What seems to have happened is that this is due to a protest that is happening in the area due to unhappiness due to service delivery.

Kelly says people steal things such as mealie-meal and cooking oils, and not just electronics.

They take anything that can immediately solve a need or bring an income to them.
