He has warned of areas prone to truck attacks, claiming roads around Beaufort West and Laingsburg are hotspots.
He says a lot of his customers have warned drivers to never sleep or stop in the areas.
There from Three Sisters (Shell) onward, there it is safe to stop and sleep. There are some places you pay R150 or R200 to stop for the night and sleep with security. They even steal loads and cut curtains and stuff inside there.— Dewald, Cape Talk listener
A truck driver was killed on the N1 near De Doorns in the Western Cape on Sunday morning when a rock was thrown through the driver's windshield causing the vehicle to swerve off the road and crash. Goods were looted.
Dewald says attacks in the De Doorns corridor are fairly new.
The whole corridor is a bad one, there are a lot of accidents on that side.— Dewald, Cape Talk listener
