EFF to assess whether branches need an overhaul

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says they will assess whether certain provincial and regional branches need an overhaul.

Party leader Julius Malema was speaking at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday, sharing insights on the party's overall performance during the election period.

The party has seen significant growth, increasing their share of voters across the board.

Its national support grew from 6% to more than 10% and they became the official opposition in three provinces. But their performance in Limpopo was not as impressive.

Eyewitness News reporter Theto Mahlakoana was at the presser.

He [Julius Malema] did say they will have to asses whether a couple of people should stay in their positions. They will also asses whether certain regions like Ekurhuleni and certain provinces like Limpopo need an overhaul; whether they should, in fact, dissolve the entire structure and build it from the ground up.

He [Malema] didn't rule out the replacement of certain individuals, dissolution of branches and regions in that clean-up that needs to happen in order for them to proceed forward in a victorious manner.

A lot of introspection for the EFF. He [Malema] is quite proud, saying they have succeeded despite the kind of criticism they have faced.
