Marawa was personally told that his contract will be cancelled, says SuperSport

Sports broadcasting channel SuperSport has released a statement responding to the sudden axing of popular sportscaster Robert Marawa.

Marawa took to Twitter on Thursday night saying he had received a text message notifying him not to come to work.

SuperSport has, however, dismissed the claim and says that they had personally informed Robert Marawa of its decision not to renew his contract. The company intends to refresh its local football presenter line-up.

Eyewitness News sports reporter Philasande Sixaba has more on the story.

There has been a lot of speculation and allegations about him protecting female broadcasters within SuperSport who have allegedly been sexually assaulted by top-tier management. Everyone has been mum about it.

If you look at how SuperSport has come into the headlines in the past year or so, I think there needs to be a lot of clarity and transparency from either side.
