SA Weather Services has forecast a cold front landing in the Western Cape late on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Dam levels are on 45.9% for the City of Cape Town with Theewaterskloof Dam on 36.1%. The heavy rains forecast for late Sunday night will bring the first much needed big rains as the Cape head into the winter rainy season.

Though the rain is welcomed, it can cause havoc on the Cape Flats and in informal settlements. The City of Cape's Disaster Risk Management Centre has teams ready to assist problems caused by flooding.

The South African Weather Service has advised that a well-developed frontal system is expected to make landfall over the Western Cape very early Monday morning. Rainfall (leading to possible flooding with minor impacts) is expected in the Cape Metropole and in the mountain areas of the Cape Winelands and Overberg Districts.

Strong and gusty winds are also expected from tomorrow afternoon along the south-western coastline of the Western Cape, which could also impact coastal activities.

The City's Disaster Risk Management Centre is at the ready to deal with any incidents that may occur as a result of the predicted inclement weather.
