A 76-year-old woman Martha Marais was found lying on the tiled floor, tied up under a bench at the Mamelodi Hospital on Thursday.
Devastated daughter Stephnie Marais can be heard in the video crying out in anguish, "This is my mother, this is not a dog, is it right for me to come and see my mother like this?"
The family receives no assistance untying Mrs Marais and gently move her from under the bench.
They say they have not had any explanation from the hospital authorities although have been told the matter is being investigated.
Newly-appointed Gauteng Health MEC Dr Bandile Masuku tells Bongani Bingwa on 702 on Friday morning that disciplinary and corrective measures will be taken.
The family have agreed to share the video publically in order to bring attention to the abuse at hospitals.
This is my aunty Martha Marais, 76, my best friend Stephnie Marais mother. Staff at the Mamelodi Hospital tied her hands behind her back and to these chairs, forcing her to to lie down on the cold floor since Tuesday night. Nursing staff ignored her cries for help.
