Newborn baby snatched from Baragwanath Hospital found unharmed in Diepkloof
A baby taken from the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, has been found in Diepkloof.
It's believed the mother was sleeping next to her newborn when the child was snatched on Thursday.
CCTV footage shows a woman exiting the maternity area, carrying a baby in a blanket.
Eyewitness News reporter Thando Kubheka says the infant was found unharmed and the matter will be investigated.
The Gauteng health MEC, Bandile Masuku said there was a clear lapse in security in this instance. This woman claimed to be the grandmother of the newborn baby. She took the baby claiming she was going to show relatives outside.Thando Kubheka, Reporter - EWN
The question now is what is going to happen? We asked the MEC [Bandile Masuku] if there is any action going to be taken and of course they are going to investigate it.Thando Kubheka, Reporter - EWN
