Corruption Watch attorney Debra Muthemwa-Thumbo says the court must review the inquiry's processes and set them aside.

The application of Corruption Watch and Right2Know (R2K) to review and set aside the findings of the Seriti commission of inquiry into the arms deal is heading to court on 11 and 12 June.

Read: 'Seriti Commission didn't conduct an inquiry, its findings can't be accepted'

Nickolaus Bauer on the Xolani Gwala Show chats to Corruption Watch attorney Debra Muthemwa-Thumbo.

The commission was established to deal with arms deal allegations, however, our issue with the commission's findings is that we don't believe that it correctly executed its mandate. It didn't properly execute the matters before it. We also found that its conclusion that there was no corruption in the arms deal is entirely false. We are hoping that the court will review these findings and set them aside.

Debra Muthemwa-Thumbo, Attorney - Corruption Watch

She says the principled purpose of commissions of inquiry is to investigate matters of public concern.

The Seriti Commission was set up to look into alleged corruption in the arms deal. Our view is that it didn't do that; it didn't do the bare minimum.

Debra Muthemwa-Thumbo, Attorney - Corruption Watch
