Numsa and Sacca want former South African Airways chief executive officer Vuyani Jarana to return.

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) will picket at all major airports on Tuesday.

The unions want former South African Airways (SAA) chief executive officer Vuyani Jarana reinstated.

King Shaka in Durban, OR Tambo International in Johannesburg, Cape Town International and the East London airports will be affected by the strike.

Ray White speaks to Sacca president Zazi Sibanyoni-Mugambi about the planned protest.

We want Jarana back. We believe that he is only going because he didn't have the support of the board and the shareholders. We believe that with the correct board that understands the needs of the CEO, he will be willing to come back.

Zazi Sibanyoni-Mugambi, President - Sacca

She says they wrote to the minister of public enterprises on countless occasions with no avail.

We are calling on the president to come and hear what our viewpoints are on the crisis at SAA. We are also calling on a board that will support any CEO that will come on.

Zazi Sibanyoni-Mugambi, President - Sacca

She says the objective is to bring SAA into profitability and the union feels that Jarana was on his way to doing that.

And if the only reason that he has left is because of lack of support, we believe that should the right support put in place, and he should be able to come back and bring us profitability.

Zazi Sibanyoni-Mugambi, President - Sacca

The political meddling in state-owned enterprises is what has led to the disasters that are happening, she says.

If they want us to become a fully fledged profitable airline, they must leave politics out of our workplace.

Zazi Sibanyoni-Mugambi, President - Sacca
