Babes Wodumo a no-show in court
Musician Bongekile Simelane, popularly known as Babes Wodumo, failed to appear in court on Tuesday.
Simelane was meant to appear over an assault case she brought against her boyfriend Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo.
In March, a video was circulated in which Mamphumulo is seen beating her.
Eyewitness News reporter Nkosikhona Duma says the case was expected to be concluded today.
It was very surprising, even to Mampintsha, that Babes Wodumo did not appear. He came in much later and tried to call Babes Wodumo but was not able to reach her.Nkosikhona Duma, Reporter - EWN
Eventually, the court had to commence and the state prosecutor told the magistrate that he had received news that Babes had a stomach ache which prevented her from appearing in court.Nkosikhona Duma, Reporter - EWN
The pair was referred for mediation to family and marriage healthcare organisation Famsa during the pair's previous appearance. Duma says while they have attended one session, more are required.
The case has been postponed to 9 July.
