A video of Menzi Mngoma singing to his Uber passenger Kim Davey has garnered more than half-a-million views.

Remember the gifted Uber driver who made headlines after he serenaded a passenger with his opera-singing talent last month?

Less than two weeks later, Cape Talk was the first to report the news that 27-year-old musicology graduate Menzi Mngoma would be auditioning for a role with Cape Town Opera.

On Wednesday, the Durban-born tenor's dream came true after he accepted an invitation to sing for the company.

He caught up with Pippa Hudson shortly after the audition.

They told me I should prepare one or two arias.

Mngoma says while he has yet to receive feedback from Cape Town Opera his life has already begun to change for the better.

I can see my dream coming true!
