Nomathamsanqa Swartbooi says she now has to pick up the pieces of her life after having a fake marriage annulled.

Eyewitness News recently revealed how several women battled for more than a decade to have marriages annulled.

One of the women, Nomathamsanqa Swartbooi, was locked into a fraudulent marriage leaving her unable to register her child's birth and obtain an ID document.

She has now succeeded in winning her case after bringing it to the attention of the Wits Law Clinic and making it public.

Swartbooi says she is grateful that her 11-year-old son will finally receive his birth certificate.

As for me, nothing has changed. I still have to pick up the pieces of my life and try to move on.

I have lost my identity, lost opportunities of employment because of my credit record. For the past five years I have been unemployed. Yes I have a smart card but what else for me? I still have to pick up the pieces of my life and move on, there is nothing to celebrate actually.
