The state of the nation is one of great anxiety and confusion…

Lukhona Mnguni, political analyst

What we don’t need is more plans. We have plans coming out of every orifice!... We need to implement…

Bonang Mohale, CEO - Business Leadership South Africa

Hope is most definitely not a strategy… Saying it doesn’t cause it…

Dr Adrian Saville, CEO - Cannon Asset Managers

President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to deliver his second State of the Nation Address (Sona) at 7:00 pm on Thursday.

It’s Ramaphosa’s second Sona in a year after the African National Congress won an outright majority in the general elections and re-appointed him as president.

The theme this time around is “Let’s grow South Africa together as we celebrate 25 years of freedom”.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed political analyst Lukhona Mnguni, Bonang Mohale (CEO at Business Leadership South Africa) and Dr Adrian Saville (CEO of Cannon Asset Managers and Professor at Gordon Institute of Business Science).

Listen to the interviews in the audio below (and scroll down for more quotes from it).

The ANC and Big Business have been cajoling each other for some time… even in the time of the Guptas… He has to be seen as acting in the interest of business…

Lukhona Mnguni, political analyst

Unfortunately, he’s a president that doesn’t say much…

Lukhona Mnguni, political analyst

South Africa is a very noisy democracy. We don’t know if we’re Arthur or Martha…

Bonang Mohale, CEO - Business Leadership South Africa

Growth is absolutely imperative because it underpins everything we do…

Bonang Mohale, CEO - Business Leadership South Africa

Eskom needs friendship… it needs urgent remedy… ratings agencies are watching; it’s the elephant in the room…

Dr Adrian Saville, CEO - Cannon Asset Managers
