Dis-Chem Foundation brings sanitary pads to Khayelitsha school

It's that time of the year when the Dis-Chem Foundation launches its annual Million Comforts campaign as part of its Random Acts of Kindness.

It partners with shoppers and major feminine hygiene brands to donate millions of sanitary pads to schoolgirls to help keep them in school.

Africa Melane speaks to CEO of Imbumba Foundation and founder of Caring4Girls Richard Mabaso as well as Dis-Chem Foundation's Sherry Saltzman about the school they will be visiting.

Fezeka Secondary School was one of the schools that were on our list.

Fezeka is one of those schools that are plagued by many social ills that include child-headed families. For us, it was a perfect fit.

Saltzman says the girls who receive the pads deserve to go to school without worrying about them.

What is phenomenal is the support that we've had from our customers.

Sherry Saltzman, Representative - Dis-Chem Foundation

Last year alone, we managed to collect over 10-million pads, which kept over 250,000 girls in schools across the country.

You too can get involved by donating sanitary towels in-store until 31 July 2019.
