The African National Congress in the region has responded to the auditor general's findings for the 2017-2018 year.

The African National Congress in Tshwane says the Democratic Alliance (DA) has failed 'on the basic principles of corporate governance' and has accused the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) of distancing itself from taking responsibility for the city's audit results.

The region incurred R5-billion in irregular and fruitless expenditure.

ANC chairperson in Tshwane, Kgosi Maepa joined Clement Manyathela on the Xolani Gwala Show for comment.

The DA has failed in its fiscal plan and fiduciary responsibility of due diligence and care and has failed on the basic principles of corporate governance.

Dr Kgosi Maepa, Regional chairperson - ANC Tshwane

The DA and EFF coalition is very nefarious and now we have seen that the EFF has distanced itself from taking collective responsibility for the failures.

Dr Kgosi Maepa, Regional chairperson - ANC Tshwane

Asked if they will consider forming a coalition with the EFF and DA to assist in fixing the capital's finances Maepa says there have been no negotiations.

We can as the ANC, counsel them because we have more experience in government. They must sort out their issues and continue, if they fail they must declare that then we must go to an election.
