[LISTEN] Mkhwebane says Gordhan violated Constitution over Sars 'rogue unit'

Public protector Busisiwe Mkwhebane says Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan violated Section 41(1) of the Constitution and that the establishment of the so-called rogue unit during the minister's tenure at the South African Revenue Sevice Revenue was illegal and unconstitutional.

Mkhwebane announced her findings during a press briefing on Friday.

Eyewitness News reporter Kgomotso Modise was at the briefing.

She was there to deliver what she found and made it clear that it is her constitutional mandate... saying that her investigations had been done well and thoroughly and anyone who wanted to challenge her findings has the power to do so.

Mkhwebane ordered President Cyril Ramaphosa to “take appropriate disciplinary action” against Gordhan within 30 days.

We have been trying to get a hold of his office to find out whether he has indeed received this report and whether he has started contemplating making sure that disciplinary action is taken.
