Spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says the church applied for officers to be deployed to a service at the Tshwane Events Centre.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says it did not give Shepherd Bushiri's Enlightened Christian Gathering preferential treatment by deploying officers at a service at the Tshwane Events Centre on Sunday.

This week, _The Star _reported on the official South African Police Service joint operational plan that included the TMPD.

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says the church approached the department and applied for the services, adding that this is normal.

When you want to host a festival for that matter, when you need services of TMPD, you will apply to us and we will assess your event. When we have personnel to deploy, definitely we will give that particular organisation an invoice for us to render those services.

Isaac Mahamba, Spokesperson - Tshwane Metro Police Department

Like all other organisations out there, we assess the event and deem it fit for us as the department to go into that particular event and control the traffic at the intersections, entrance and exists at that particular events centre.

Isaac Mahamba, Spokesperson - Tshwane Metro Police Department

Whoever is the organiser of that event has to pay. There is no difference to this particular church.
