Cases involving a particular speed-measuring device have been thrown out due to questions over the reliability of the device.

Speed junkies caught by a particular make of speed-measuring device are being spared fines and possible jail term after the reliability of the machine was called into question.

Drivers captured by the Pro Laser 4 have had their cases withdrawn as Howard Dembovsky of the Justice Project South Africa explains.

The court found that the devices had not been calibrated by an independent laboratory.
