No one possessed what Mandoza possessed behind the mic- Danny K

South Africa was saddened by the news of the passing of Kwaito singer Mandoza (38) on Sunday. Mandoza, whose real name was Mduduzi Tshabalala became a star after the release of hit song Nkalakatha in 2000.

He died after battling cancer of the brain for about a year.

CapeTalk's Africa Melane spoke to Danny K, South African musician and producer who also toured with Mandoza. Danny K and Mandoza collaborated on the album 'Same Difference'.

The hardest thing in music is to make a song that appeals to multi genre audience... and I think Mandoza had a way of bridging the divide, of writing a beat that galvanized us all and that made him very special.
