Itchy groin? Here's what you need to know about treating fungal infections

If you've ever had a fungal infection you'll know just how irritating they can be.

The constant itching, which despite surreptitious (and not so surreptitious) scratching refuses to go away.

Of course, none of us likes to think of our bodies as breeding grounds for fungi, but the truth is, fungal infections are actually very common.

Dr Darren Green joined CapeTalk's Pippa Hudson to delve into the underbelly of infections such as Jock Itch, Athlete's Foot and ringworm.

It loves warm, dark, moist and airless places...

Under the armpits, under the breasts - especially if you're well-endowed and you've clammy areas under the breasts - the groin and between the toes!

Dr Green says something as simple as not drying properly between the toes can lead to a fungal outbreak.

He adds that some people are more susceptible to bodily fungi than others.

Diabetics have a higher propensity for developing candida (and other fungal infections), and then people that are on chemotherapy...
