South Africans can enjoy an extra public holiday this year on the 27th of December.
President Jacob Zuma announced that according to section 2A of the Public Holidays Act whenever a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a public holiday.
Cosatu wrote a letter to the President requesting that the 27th be made a public holiday but is seems the Federation of Unions of SA (Fedusa) beat them to it.
Fedusa petitioned the Presidency before Cosatu could.
Sizwe Pumla, National Spokesperson for Cosatu say it doens't matter who made the request first, what matters is the outcome.

Pumla says this is a win-win decision because holidays benefits a lot of businesses too.
