A top general in Sudan's ruling military council has announced that they have foiled a coup attempt.
The announcement came as the ruling military and civilian protesters agreed last week to end a political impasse after the army in April ousted longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir after a popular uprising.
Eyewitness News Africa correspondent JJ Cornish tells Joanne Joseph that 16 officers were arrested.
