Magashule suggests there may be some truth to Zuma 'spy' claims

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-general Ace Magashule appears to have suggested that claims made by former President Jacob Zuma about spies within the party may be true.

He was speaking to 702's Clement Manyatela on day two of Zuma appearing at the Zondo commission.

They are serious. We cannot just ignore them.

On Monday Zuma told the commission that there were spies who were planted within the ANC to work with the apartheid government.

He went as far as to name former public service and administration minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi, who has since denied the claims.

Some of us have been around...from the unbanning of the ANC. I've been a member of the national executive committee of the ANC, so I know some of the things that President Zuma might actually be saying.

Magashule says the former president paid a visit to Luthuli House on Friday.

He said he might say certain things which might not sit well with the ANC, which we were not aware of.

Magashule says the claims made by the former president must be addressed by the ANC as a whole.

It must be a collective decision, it cannot be an Ace Magashule decision...there are people who are saying let's have our own commission.
