Political analyst Sandile Swana says former president's giving a clear sign he still has the clout to mobilise the masses.

Former president Jacob Zuma dropped some political bombshells during his testimony at the state capture enquiry this week, including calling out former ministers Ngoako Ramatlhodi and Siphiwe Nyanda as spies for the apartheid government.

Are these allegations likely to deepen an already existing rift within the ruling African National Congress (ANC)?

On the Xolani Gwala show, Ray White gets the input of Sandile Swana, political analyst and lecturer at the Business School of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

Swana says the naming of senior members of the ANC, some of whom hold top positions in government, means some negotiation will have to take place within the party.

The idea that somebody can find an easy solution where, if you want to put it this way, the Ramaphosa faction can just dictate terms to other faction - whatever it is called now -it's not going to be easy.

A sit-down and a careful negotiation has got to happen.

He says what is at stake now is what exactly the ANC is prepared to do for Zuma.

That is the issue on the table and that is the issue that Ramphosa has got to answer.

If they are saying we are going to do absolutely nothing, 'sink if you sink', then Zuma is sending a clear message that 'by the time I sink, I'll be going down with you'.
