Why can't I get in touch with a customer support centre at UberEATS?
Several unhappy UberEats customers contacted consumer journalist Wendy Knowler to complain about the frustration of being unable to contact a customer support centre.
One customer, Julyan wanted a response from the food delivery service after he was billed incorrectly.
Julyan googled, “Uber office cape town”, which directed him to a pub in Green Point.
He made his way to a listed Uber office in The Foundry, but found that it doesn’t deal with customers.
Undeterred, he called the 24/7 toll-free customer contact number but was advised that the helpline service has not yet been extended to his area!
I looked on Hello Peter, and there are pages and pages of similar complaints about the impossibility of getting a response.Julian, listener
Wendy contacted a spokesperson for the company to put Julian's and other disgruntled customers' queries to them.
This is what she was told:
The 24/7 phone line is currently only available for riders and drivers, it does not support Uber Eats at this time however we are always looking to improve our support for customers and we encourage all eaters to always leave feedback in the app or contact customer support, via the live chat in-app, if they are experiencing any difficulty. Our customer support is 24/7.UberEats spokesperson
