The latest research says a staggering 93% of children in South Africa that need to be in a car seat are not buckled up.

It's every parent's worst nightmare. Their child being hurt or harmed.

But what if something happens that could have been prevented?

Parents are being urged not to take risk when it comes to their kids and car safety.

Mandy Lee Miller is the founder of the #CarseatFullstop campaign - a national car seat awareness initiative.

She says in her experience there is a general lack of understanding about how critically important it is to strap our kids in.

So many people, highly educated, more than enough money, don't have car seats in their cars.

Mandy Lee Miller, Spokesperson & founder - #CarseatFullstop

The latest research says that 93% of children in South Africa that need to be in a car seat to be safe in a crash, are not in car seats.

In a car crash, the body takes on the weight of the speed you are travelling multiplied by your actual weight.

Mandy Lee Miller, Spokesperson & founder - #CarseatFullstop

Miller says roads in South Africa are among some of the most dangerous in the world.

Road deaths are the fourth leading cause of unnatural deaths in children in South Africa.

Without seatbelts, we don't survive...every child under 10 years old needs a seat belt to survive a crash.

Mandy Lee Miller, Spokesperson & founder - #CarseatFullstop
