Do you want to apply for an identity document (ID) and not sure what the process entails?
What does the department consider as a late application for an ID number?
John Maytham speaks to the Department of Home Affairs Western Cape district co-ordinator Sam Plaatjies on the steps followed in applying for a late ID.
Any birth that is not registered at birth after the 31 days of birth is deemed to be a late registration of birth. From 31 days to 1 year. We also have one year to seven years.
