Hawks launches investigation into Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwabane

The Hawks has confirmed it is going after Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

The investigations follow the complaint laid by Accountantiity Now Director Paul Hoffman.

The organisation accuses Mkhwebane of perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

Clement Manyathela speaks to Eyewitness News reporter Nthakoana Ngatane about the reasons for the investigation.

He (Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya) says the investigation will be based only and solely on that compliant that has now been filed by Accountability Now.

All he could really say is that the Hawks will not get involved in any other matter apart from that one because it has been filed and it is a public matter.

The reason that the Hawks are getting involved is that the office of the Public Protector is a high office and a complaint has been filed.
