The City of Cape Town says it is working with service providers to fix the problem, which can be fixed by the end of August.

The Disabled People South Africa organisation bemoans the bad service provided by the Dial-a-Ride service in the City of Cape Town.

Dial-a-Ride is a public transport service provided by the city for those with special needs who are unable to make use of conventional public transport.

Disabled People South Africa spokesperson Elroy Ludewyk speaks to John Maytham about their displeasure.

They have nine buses with over 350 people they need to service.

City of Cape Town mayoral committee member for transport Felicity Purchase says they are in discussions to solve the problem.

Both the service provider and my office are committed to finding a solution quickly. We are stuck with constraints and we are stuck with certain budgets that we can allocate.

Felicity Purchase, Mayoral committee member for transport - City of Cape Town

We are determined to try and improve the service because it is a real need.
