Lana Marks could be the next US ambassador to South Africa

The US Senate foreign relations committee has recommended that East London-born handbag designer Lana Marks be appointed as US ambassador to South Africa.

If the recommendation is confirmed, she should be headed over to South Africa.

Marks hasn't been confirmed yet, she was passed by the Senate foreign relations committee, but the Senate didn't get round to confirming her before it went into recess. This is strange because all the other nominees who were in the same panel were confirmed.
