CEO and co-founder of Sygnia Magda Wierzycka says individuals made donations to Ramaphosa's campaign in their personal capacity.

Financial services company Sygnia's CEO Magda Wierzycka refutes that her company donated to CR17 campaign.

As a corporation, no donations were made. Individuals made donations to President Ramaphosa's campaign in their personal capacity.

Magda Wierzycka, CEO and co-founder - Sygnia

It is not something the company interrogates, she adds.

Sygnia does not make any political donations to parties or candidates.

Magda Wierzycka, CEO and co-founder - Sygnia

Everyone has the right as individuals to donate and vote according to their personal preference.

She says for those individuals the amounts donated were worth it to achieve an end to corruption.

She agrees that political donations should be transparent.

But then that transparency should apply to every political party and every single political candidate.

Magda Wierzycka, CEO and co-founder - Sygnia

These kind of donations are phenomena the world over, the adds.

The only way you can then protect against potential corruption that could follow is to make sure that all political donations are disclosed and public.
